Retreat as Practice

A relationship with space and time.

Creating space and allowing time to reveal what everyday life often conceals.

Creating Space and Time

Retreat is not about escaping from life, but about stepping back far enough to see it more clearly. By creating space around our daily routines and allowing time to unfold more naturally, we begin to recognise perspectives that are often hidden beneath the pace of ordinary life.

Time itself moves with remarkable consistency, yet our experience of time constantly changes. Likewise, the way we orient ourselves within space shapes how we perceive ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Retreat gently invites us to rediscover a rhythm that is closer to nature, where clarity arises not through striving, but through simply allowing ourselves the space and time to see.

Retreat
Takes
Many Forms

Retreat is not defined by a particular place, schedule, or group. What matters is creating enough space and time for awareness to deepen. Whether practised alone or shared with others, each form of retreat offers a different way of stepping out of habitual patterns and returning to a clearer relationship with life.

In Everyday Life
A personal retreat begins with small moments of space.

Even a quiet morning, an evening walk, or time set aside without distraction can become an opportunity to slow down, observe more clearly, and reconnect with what truly matters.

In Solitude
Practising alone offers the freedom to discover your own rhythm.

With thoughtful guidance and a clear structure, a self-guided retreat can become a deeply personal way of cultivating independence, confidence, and a more direct relationship with practice.

In Community
Occasionally, practising together creates a different kind of learning.

A shared retreat offers the support of a like-minded community, dedicated guidance, and an environment where practice can deepen through collective experience and mutual reflection.

Practising Retreat
Together

Although I encourage everyone to develop their own personal retreat practice, there is also something valuable about occasionally sharing this experience with others. A small group creates the opportunity to practise together, learn from one another, and step away from everyday life with dedicated time, guidance, and the support of a shared intention.

I choose to offer only one or two retreats each year, allowing each one to remain personal, unhurried, and deeply rooted in practice rather than routine.

May your practice continue to unfold naturally.
